As one of the three founders and the Technical Director of “Mijn Naam is Haas,” I have had the privilege of overseeing a talented team of over 20 professionals. Our mission has been to create an educational platform that not only engages but also fundamentally enhances the learning experience for children.
“Mijn Naam is Haas” encompassed a series of CD-ROMs, the interactive online game “Op pad met Haas,” a collection of picture books, and a flip-through booklet. In our signature serious game, children actively shape the world of Haas by drawing, taking control of the narrative that unfolds. They embark on adventures in a world of their own creation, accompanied by Haas and his best friend, Sofie.
Under my leadership, we have designed the game to foster playful learning in an interactive, animated environment. Children develop their vocabulary, narrative understanding, problem-solving skills, cultural education, social skills, and media literacy. The effectiveness of “Op pad met Haas” in teaching vocabulary more efficiently than traditional methods has been validated by research from the Dutch Expertise Centre.
Our approach combined technological innovation with educational psychology, making “Mijn Naam is Haas” a pioneering platform in educational technology. My role has involved managing and guiding our team to push the boundaries of how educational content can be delivered and experienced.
